I expected the extender to be useable for making trays with a router, but the instructions indicate that it can only be used on a router mounted on a router table.
This Xtreme Xtension has three very positive design features, 1> The Xtreme Xtension is inserted into a 1/2 inch collet and then it is tightened in the standard manner. This EX 2080 Xtreme Xtension by Router Technologies is absolutely the best.Router Technologies EX 2080 Xtreme Xtension Professional Router Bit/Collet Extension All router users like safety. You will talk to the inventor.
Changing bits with two wrenches is a challenge with one hand. I am a one-handed router table user. Tightening the bit off the bottom was time consuming for me. This allows a person to use any router that has a 1/2 inch collet. In contrast, my experience with the Xtreme Xtension professional router bit extension has been totally satisfactory. 4> In addition to the design features, I must mention that the manufacturer provides the best technical support I have experienced. 2> The design includes a rubber O ring which gently holds most bits at any height the user chooses until it is tightened with an Alan wrench.
The Eliminator quickly tightens a router bit into the chuck using a single hex wrench. I absolutely recommend this product to my friends. The second problem I experienced with the Eliminator is that it is made for only a few routers (it screws onto the router's motor shaft). My 2 HP Craftsman router is installed in a Woodpecker V2 lift in my home shop's router table.
I have had the opportunity to use a chuck known as the "collet eliminator". I own four routers, but not a router which the Eliminator is designed to fit. Installing a router bit is easy to do with one hand. I have had experience with the two major router collet adapters that use hex wrench tightening.
Friends, I am happy to share my experience using the Xtreme Xtension professional router bit extension. This tool worked very well for me with the exception that I prefer to not have the bit shank contact the bottom of the chuck. 3> The O ring also causes the 1/4 inch adapter to be used more safely.
It is very solidly built. I have given it 5 stars.I have the Xtreme Xtension and it works perfectly, just as advertised. I simply raise the Xtreme Xtension to above the table with my Route Raizer, use a t-handle Allen wrench to change bits, and then lower the bit to where ever I want itIt could not be easier.I strongly recommend Xtreme Xtension. What a joy to no longer have to use a wrench or two under the table to change bits.

I've measured the runout on my Hitachi M12V router before and after installation of this extension and found that it only contributed to about a.002" additional runout. Very happy with this product, and simply don't know how I got along without it all these years. An excellent product that makes changing bits a breeze. There doesn't seem to be any vibration increase as a result of this installation.
